No fever, no tension.

What is fever?
Fever is defined as a temperature above 104 ° F. Fever is one of the ways in which the body fights infection. Viruses and bacteria often cannot withstand high temperatures, so body temperature rises to help fight infection. While this is a big sign that having a fever means that your child's body is working well to fight the infection, it is very frustrating that an increase in temperature often makes your child feel unwell.

How do you measure temperature?

It is measured using a device called a thermometer. The three units in which temperature is measured are Celsius, Fahrenheit and Calvin. Therefore, there are three different scales for measuring temperature.

When should I take my child to the doctor?
Tell your doctor if your child has a fever of 103 ° F or higher, or 101 ° F ,or higher for 72 hours. See a doctor if they have difficulty swallowing, coughing up a lot of mucus, or swollen glands or earaches.
Should I give my child medicine?
OTC medications that relieve symptoms such as pain, soreness, or fever (such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen) should be used as directed by your doctor. Do not give your child cough or cold medicine unless the doctor says it is okay, especially for children under 6.

Note.
Always check the medicine label and follow the instructions. Each type of medicine has different directions depending on the age and weight of the baby. You should ask your pediatrician about the right diet for your baby. Also, check the ingredients if your child is taking other medications. Tell your child's doctor if they contain acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

If your child is 3 months to 2 years old and has a fever above 102 ° F, call your best pediatrician's clinic. If the fever is below 102 ° F and your child is doing well and does not feel much pain, it is best not to treat the fever with medication. This high temperature is not harmful and shows us that your child's body is working well to fight the infection. If the child is very restless, even if the fever is not high, it is okay to give him acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen. Be sure to talk to your pediatrician to make sure you are giving the right dose.
Does a fever mean your body is fighting an illness?
Fever is not a disease. This is usually a sign that your body is trying to fight an illness or infection. Infections often cause a fever. You get a fever because your body is trying to kill the virus or bacteria that caused the infection.
Fever without fear.
Fever can be a nightmare for parents. When your child is burning, it can be difficult for him to think straight and make important decisions. Knowing what causes a fever and how to treat it will reduce your anxiety and help you deal with the situation.

Why does fever come and go?
Recurrent fevers occur and return over time. A classic fever is usually associated with an infection or a virus. With recurrent fever, you may have a higher body temperature without a virus or bacterial infection.
If your child has a fever, book an appointment.

  • When your child has a fever, he is still "sick."
  • Looks like your baby is getting worse.
  • Fever lasts more than 24 hours in a child under 2 years of age.
  • A child 2 years of age or older has a fever lasting more than 3 days (72 hours).
