Allergic reaction treatment

Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction that progresses rapidly and can affect the entire body. It can cause suffocation, unconsciousness, and even death. Anaphylaxis is a medical condition that requires immediate treatment. Anaphylaxis can occur in some people when exposed to a substance to which they are severely allergic. The most common substances that cause anaphylaxis are food, medicine, and insect bites. It is estimated that up to 15% of the population is at risk of anaphylaxis.
Anaphylaxis works like any other allergy. Your immune system, your body's defense against potentially dangerous substances such as bacteria, can overreact to harmless substances (allergens) and harm your body in the process. As part of the normal immune response, proteins called antibodies are produced that can detect and help "invaders" in the body. When an allergen first enters the body of an allergic person, the immune system produces allergen-specific IgE antibodies. IgE antibodies stick to the surface of cells called mast cells. Then, when an allergic person encounters the allergen, IgE identifies it and immune cells immediately begin releasing chemicals such as histamine. These powerful chemicals can cause allergic reactions and symptoms such as anaphylaxis.
Treatment of anaphylaxis.
While some allergic reactions are mild and can be treated with over-the-counter antihistamines, anaphylaxis requires immediate professional treatment. These acute reactions can damage your airways in seconds.
